The Gosford Cup 2016 steals the show on the NSW Central Coast this Friday, January 8, with betting odds and tips for the staying showdown found below.

Destiny's Kiss

Only seven hopefuls make up the field for this year’s $150,000 Listed Gosford Quarries Gosford Gold Cup (2100m), four of which are under double figures to win through Ladbrokes.com.au who are offering CASH BACK up to $50 if your horse runs second or third.

The Chris Waller-trained ATC Cup winning mare Telepathic is the current $2.90 favourite to return to form after to sixth placed efforts in the Group 2 Villiers Stakes and December Handicap both over the mile at Randwick.

She has Heavy track form (2-1-1-0) and will appreciate the step back up in metres on Friday looking to win back the love of the punters after going down by three lengths as the odds-on favourite last start on December 26.

The other top fancy in the Gosford Cup betting markets at $3.10 for the win is Destiny’s Kiss who ran on strongly when finishing a brave first-up third beaten only a neck be Medcaut in the December Handicap (1600m) on Boxing Day.

Enjoy Money Back on the Gosford Cup this Friday up to $50 at Ladbrokes.com.au if your horse runs 2nd or 3rd!

He too is another proven wet track performer with five wins from 11 starts on Heavy going so can handle the mud in the Gosford Cup.

So will the top two in betting run the Gosford Cup quinella this summer or is there an upset on the cards from the likes of the rails-drawn Gai Waterhouse-trained Kontiki Dane ($5) coming off a 1900m Rosehill win or Waller’s other runner Dances Of Heroes ($6) who would prefer drier conditions?

#3 Destiny’s Kiss ($3.10)

Joe Pride’s seven-year-old stayer, who has winning form up to 3200m, ran a fast finishing third over the mile at Randwick on Boxing Day carrying 57.5kg crossing only a neck off the winner Medcaut. He will be fitter for the run and is up in distance on Friday, which suits the veteran galloper who will also be handling the rain-affected track without a worry.

#2 Telepathic ($2.90)

Telepathic is a black-type winner over 2000m in Sydney this campaign and has winning form in the wet making the bad weather at Gosford a non-issue as she prepares to step back up in distance after two runs over a mile that didn’t suit.

3rd

#5 Kontiki Dane ($5)

Rails run and top lead-up form for this four-year-old mare who drops a kilo to 56kg after winning form 11 of 12 with 57kg last time out. She is flying and has her first look at the 2100m, but needs to handle heaving going. She has won on a soft track however so could surprise at good odds.
